I was delighted to be asked to be the sound supervisor / sound recordist for a binaural and 360° Capture at London’s field day festival for the main event of the Saturday night, which was Aphex Twin. The capture of the audio required a direct feed from Aphex Twin’s main stereo output, and a backup – this would serve as the main dry signal. In addition to this to shotgun microphones with place either side of the stage, pointing towards the audience providing a really nice stereoscopic image of the audience reactions. On top of this of binaural microphone was placed at the back of the audience where the mixing desk tower was. This providing a decent level of ambience and again increasing stereoscopic image.
